CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year winners Proenza Schouler opted to embrace the avant garde as the duo presented their resort collection this season - asking three contemporary artists to display their collection in their own style. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez enlisted the help of their "favourite artists" Kalup Linzy, Haim Steinbach and Kembra Pfahler for the installations - which took place this week in Florence.
Steinbach created an installation of Proenza Schouler accessories arranged on a white rug with dog toys, plastic onions and a metal bed frame. Outside, Linzy screened two music videos - featuring Chloƫ Sevigny and model Liya Kebede - whilst the third artist took performance art a little further.
Pfahler surrounded himself with Proenza-clad go-go dancers, bared his bottom and sang, wearing a Proenza Schouler bustier and laced-up thigh-high boots, while Hernandez watched from the sidelines, laughing hysterically.
"Now that pre-collections are becoming so important, it's nice to be able to explore other avenues by which to show it," Hernandez told WWD. "Especially since it's inherently a more commercial collection, there's room to balance that with something more showy."
